Outboard mounting set up!!

 Hey lads

I was out in my quintrex dory 4.2, when I noticed a fair bit of spray from water coming from the outboard, seems like it may need to be positioned differently, not sure what kinda knots I should be getting out of the 25hp honda four stroke, so not sure if it's working to hard due to incorrect set up,

here is is a pic of the spray, if u can see it?

cheers in advance

Tim

To really know.  That looks like quite a low transom so the motor may be too low/long a leg.  Measure from the deepest part of the v to the top of the transom where the motor sits in inches to get the recommended leg length then check the motor to see if it its a short/long/xlong etc.  Rough guide the cav plate should be level with the lowest part of the deep v. www.leeroysramblings.com/OB_shaft_length.htm scroll down about 1/2 way for a pic if this doesnt make sense.

 Hey Tim I have a 4m

 Hey Tim

I have a 4m aluminium duck style tinnie. I just put a 40 on it and made it so the cav plate is bang on level with the lowest part of the hull. When planeing fast the water splashes up from the cav plate and hits the second smaller plate, splashing out, looking similar to yours. I can see the cav plate when on the plane and it's skimming along the water. Previously I had a 25 2stroke on it and with one person on board managed 33 knots flat out. So with your set up you should probably be in the range of 25-30 knots wot. Use the navionics app if you don't have a speedo.
