Outboard storage between uses

Was just wondering do people store there outboards tilted up or down between uses and for what reasons

 doesnt make any difference except maybe rams retracted into cylinders couldnt hurt

preferably down but i need to travel with mine up due to my low trailer but parked up i leave it as low as i can to keep everything level though i don't think it'd do much harm being up other than the stress on the hydralics
