Pb blue gropper (35 years to get)

My first on rod and reel,Had many landed in my boat over the years but never mine. Seen many diving , refused to shoot .I thought I had big dhue boy. Ended up being a 10.2 kg dhue on top rig. 15.7 kg blue on bottom rig . ( Ian and Ang ) lol yes yes. Absolutely pissed .

Fri, 2018-02-09 12:11

what a haul. were they fighting each other or just you. would have been ecstatic seeing them come to the surface after a great fight but also dissapointing in a way, would have been good to see a monster dhu come up. well done on your first

Sweet and great to hear you won't shoot them

used to hand feed pencil urchins to a huge blue half way to Rotto. Had hooks and scars around its mouth so had given several fishos a thrill before breaking them off.  How was it on the tooth?

I was surprised

Sun, 2018-02-11 08:54

They come up about 20 meters away. That's why I thought I had big dhue boy. ( floating) shouldn't have landed it tell you the truth. Took me under ledge to start. Lucky I had shock leader on . Normally I have braid straight to snaplock. Blake from compleat taught me easy way to do fg knot . Shock leader was chaffed to max. Otherwise whiplash would have pinged instantly.
