PB Dhufish, awesome PB at that!

I've had a few weeks of up in Exmouth and I'd be luying if i didnt say I was pumped to come back to Perth for more action.

I launched Tuesday 23rd at 10am, gentleman hours and thought i'd miss some of the big blowy eaterly but not the case. As mentioned it blew and intensified until lunch......backed off at 1pm > Did well with big BB, KG, pinks and Dhufish to 21kg!

I did recon work due to not fishable conditions and sussed out some old co-ords to see if fish were active. When the wind dropped,we fished 3 spots only. The last spot was a bit of hard ground that stood 2m high but ran along like a small ridge. I drove over this spot for 5 min having a look and no action at all re fish.

I said to Shaun that this type of ground I dont drop on due to no activity but the amount of hidey holes in this ground can hide a big Dhufish. I said we'll have a quick drop as my gut instinct said so......we both dropped and i got a 5kg Dhu, he got his PB at 10kg. Shaun was wrapped and he said "thanks that's my PB Ryan". I said we'll have one more drop and move on. We both dropped again and Shaun hooked up big time!

The result was a VERY quick New PB Dhufish for Shaun..............weighed 21kg but i think it could of gone more on certified scales...a good fish none the less!

Well done mate again!

Fri, 2008-09-26 21:20

Did it have a set of snelled Gama's in it. Last time I was up there I got chaffed thru on a very large dhuie.

OMG a dhuie chaff thru 60 lb leader.

Excellent fish. Certainly one he will remember for a long time.

cheers 4 the coments guys, yea i will remember this fish 4 a long long time. as ryan said b4 there is no activity but good hidey holes 4 dhufish, so when i dropped & pulled up my pb dhu at 10 kg, beat my old pb by 3kg i was stoked, & ryan had just said good hidey holes 4 dhus, i said 2 him that was a great call. then on  the next drift i got smashed, nearly pulled the rod out my hands after about a 10 min fight i seen it on the surface i did not no 2 laugh or cry i was that excited, then we got it in the boat & when i seen the scales at 21kg 2 say i was happy was an understatmet. fish of a lifetime 4 me. big thanks again ryan 4 puting me on 2 some awsome fish & 4 u 2 call, good hidey holes 4 dhus b4 we dropped was unbelievable. cheers 4 a great day on the water...............

Top work Ryan and Shaun

Sat, 2008-09-27 10:09

Great fish Shaun. It sure is handy having a good skipper that can put you onto fish even in crappy conditions. Mind you he hasn't put me on to any fish over the last four months (jokes). Great stuff, I'm really looking forward to having a fish when I get back now. After the V5 ban finishes I guess.

Three days without it and I get a little jumpy
