Pelagic Extreme Spectra Braid

Has anyone used Spectra Braid. I am heading to Quobba in August amd looking to take spare line with me and found this line on www.premiumfishing.com.au. Selling 50lb x 1200m for $93.95. Getting 4 times the line for the same price in the shops. Line is also for sale on ebay so may get it even cheaper.

Absolute junk mate, i spooled up a reel and the colour runs etc. I thought it was one bad roll that i got which 80lb for sambo jigging. So i went and bout 100lb and the stuff is so thick in diameter and the sambos were snapping it like it was nothing. Went out and bought better quality braid and i was handling the sambos at 40lb. So my option is to fork out a little more $$ and get the good stuff. Wouldn't want to make the journey to quobba to have your reels in the car because its weak junk.

be careful of the lines bought on ebay i had a run of big snapper here at minnie water north coast of nsw, tried fresh pillies and  the line snapped on most hits, also beware of hooks from ebay they are often a smaller size, elvis

If you must buy line off the net, go for well known brands. Tuf-Line is the best value.

mate agree with the above, i

mate

agree with the above, i have got it on one of my snapper winches and it is crap with a big letter c.... dont touch it.

color runs, feel bumps in it as it comes of the spool, snaps at the blink of an eye and is twice as thick as good braid.

but i do agree with brody on the tuf line, i have got 60lb on my other snapper winch and next time i will be buying 40lb, because the 60 holds my boat dead and wont bloddy snap when i get snaged up, its a 6.5 glass boat as well.

its been a reel pain in the butt.

its not the dearest or cheapest but i will give them 1 thing it is TUF-LINE

dont skimp, spend the bucks and you will never regret it.

cheers

There are many MANY reasons

There are many MANY reasons why gear on Ebay are much cheaper than local shops.

We stock braid that are reputable and have been "tried and tested", NOT because they are dirt cheap...

We spend all this money

Tue, 2010-06-22 19:14

We spend all this money on our fishing gear and to go fishing so dont buy cheap braid, buy the best you can afford that is a known brand, at the end of the day that is what is between you and your fish so if you are going to by braid like that you may aswell by a box of beers and sit at home.

Agree

Agree with all the comments and have two reels full of the crap.
Give the rod a yank to bury the hooks and have 80lb break ten

End of story, once bitten twice shy and I'll never buy that crap again.
