Peninsula Palms Dampier

G'day all, I'm booked into this place for when I'm working in Dampier as of next Monday. I cant find nothing out about this place and most travel web sites make it out as pretty dodgy and basic. Can anyone tell us a bit about it please, it would put me and the missus at ease a bit.

Cheers
Dale

Questions

Fri, 2009-12-18 20:10

Dale perhaps these are questions that should have been asked of your employer.   Enjoy the NW experience, I started there many, many years ago.

And no Penny Palms are not dodgy, probably better than some and of course worse than others. jmo.

Carry you were not looking far enough.  The view over the stockpiles was stunning. You won't get that in Paraburdoo or Newman. Smile

its camp life

Sat, 2009-12-19 08:52

if basic, but livable. You are there to work, not have a holiday - besides you are not in there much other than to shower and sleep anyway.

If its like the Sea Ripple or Bay village etc, then the internet can be bloody expensive - it may be cheaper to get your own from telstra, but that is for you to weigh up.

the old poon bro's camp K-town. Those were the days. Could knock back as many as ya liked after work no one give a shit but it did cause the odd blue or two. Yer nothing like a fight in da camp for entertainment.

those days are long gone

Sat, 2009-12-19 16:30

last time I was up in Karratha, my cousin was at the Sea Ripple and they had closed the wet mess because of a drunken punch-up and weren't sure if they were going to re-open it!

Doesn't stop people buying there own grog and smashing it back in their rooms though....

Just gave them a ring and

Sat, 2009-12-19 16:57

Just gave them a ring and yes, it sounds very basic. No internet, so I'll have to chase up something for that. No foxtel, struth, how will I survive?? Curtains in some rooms, so it will be interesting to see how I go sleeping for night shifts. They have a gym of sorts which was one of my questions, and they are a pub, so we'll have to see what the noise etc is like after hours. Might have to tee up something better as it's costing close on $200 a night for my employer.

Cheers

if you can wangle it

Sat, 2009-12-19 19:14

you'd be better off renting a house and sub letting a room or 2! You could rent a room out for $500/week or thereabouts - it'll offset the $1500/week rent.

Unless you have a bus and other employees etc that are serviced and picked up for work staying at the Palms?

If they give you a car, I reckon that'd be the best option.
