Pet Plan
I'm with pet plan,
http://www.petplan.com.au/
I have a bullmastif that has just turned 4. She is a good 55kgs and no one comes in my yard unless the are invited. Pet plan cost's me $60 a month (not cheap but one accident will pay for it.) Was $40 but just went up due to age and Hip issues with these big breeds
My last dog loved finding snakes - he got bitten 4 different times (3 times the vet saved him - the 4th he did not survive, you'd think he would of learnt after 3 bites, but no) and a vet bill in karratha for snake bites was 2 -3 k. probably more now - It is more expensive for a night in the vets at karratha, then a night at the for hyatt for me.
I think it is worth the money

can't answer but...
Adam, I was looking into this a while back and found this bit of background. Gives you a few stats and things to think about.

Wish I'd done it for my two when we got them. Could have bought myself a boat with the money I've thrown at vets over the last 12 years, but they're worth it...

When I looked into
getting pet insurance for our little Yorkie, found out they don't cover over 12yrs of age, only under. Don't know if that is still the go. As you do need to spend a bit more money on our beloved pets as they get older, extra visits etc.

Hey Ad's
There was a thread on Karratha Buy n Sell (facebook page) about this. It'd pay to have a look. I'm flat out at "work" so cant look it up. Was only yesterday I think.
Cheers Mick

Both my dogs are covered with the RSPCA. I only have accident cover for them. Full cover would have cost more than my own health insurance. At least I know that my money is being used to help other animals.
I'm here for a good time, not a long time. Lets go fishing!

Pet Plan is the go
My wife actually works as a vet nurse and having spoken to her Pet Plan is the best. It may cost a bit more but they cover mostly everything and for a longer period of time ie. if they get a long lasting illness, they are going to cover the ongoing costs for longer than a lot of the others. Also, the cheaper ones are virtually not worth the money you pay for them.
