Plan for a solo run got the goods
Decided to take a day off work yesterday as the weather looked good and the next few days is going to be awful. The plan was to go out behind the FFB to see if I could pick up a dhuie, then come into the Sound for a few squid and then finish off with a Pink Snapper to complete my bag. With an easterly blowing I headed 20+ klm offshore to a spot and the sounder lit up (screenshot it but left it on the sounder). Got my drift worked out and put the sea anchor over the side and drop down a fresh lump of occy. two minutes and it was on. Looked over the side and was stoked, first part of the plan done. a 690mm Dhui. Part two, headed back into the Sound and had a drift around the weed beds and picked up six squid pretty quickly and then moved out behind GI for part three. Anchored up and got some burley going, cracked a can, put two rods out free floating mullies and got comfortable for the wait.. It glassed off and was great out there. Dead on sunset one rod buckled and line started to peel off at a rapid pace and soon after I had a 670mm pinky onboard. Being solo for the day that was my bag limit and I was one happy fisher.. Happy Days... Not record breaking sizes but enough for a family Sunday lunch.

Excellent Joe- Great to see you are having some success.
If you ever need someone to join you at short notice during a week day, you know I can meet you at the boat ramp down the road.

So are you living the good life or what
Don't you just love the place when you can go out with a pre conceived plan on what you want to catch and it all comes together for you.

so true mate.
I've only had a boat for 3 years and the first 2 years it was a smallish trailcraft so only hanging around in the Sound or Safety Bay. Got my new boat 8 months ago and with the help of a good mate and info from his mate I have learnt heaps. Wednesday was about doing it by myself and seeing how I'd go.. should have done this 30 years ago..

Nice work mate, I love
Nice work mate, I love fishing alone. Even better when you catch something. I've only had my boat for a couple of months so I won't be doing any solo runs anytime soon.

solo launching
I found the hardest part was working out how to launch and retrieve my 6.70m boat by myself. I ended up going to the ramp during the week when it was quiet and practiced without the peanut gallery getting pissed off with me screwing it up. Now that I have got that sussed it's easy to go out solo now and gives me more options. The only thing is launching the boat and then being away from it while you put the car away and it is out of sight. Give it a go mate..

Yep peanuts....
That's the worst part. Like everyone of them was born a skipper. Mid week practice sounds like the go rigpig. Cheers mate!
