Plastics reel ratio

Interested to hear opinions from the placcy boys regarding prefered reel ratio?

I'm looking at getting a new 4000 size and yet to decide on the speed.

Cheers boys.

Joodles I mucked around for

Joodles

I mucked around for ages looking for the best soft plastics rod and reel combo......tried a lot, and ended up with a Daiwa Certate 2508, which is the high speed version but with the 3000 gearbox. Great little reel, and the high speed is great for soft plastics as it allows you to crank in the soft plastics and small stickbaits quickly if required and just feels balanced with normal soft plastics action.

The low ratio options are better for jigging and fighting fish, but not as good for soft plastics in my opinion.

I have a Stella SW4000PG which is the low speed version. The best PE2 jigging reel around, but I never use it for soft plastics as it is too low geared.

In my opinion, go a high speed. If looking at something cheaper, why not a Shimano Stradic. If more expensive, A Daiwa Steez would be great. Chrisp has a 3000 Steez for sale that would be a PRIMO soft plastics reel.

4000 size shimano or 3000 size Daiwa max for soft plastics. I use a 2500 Daiwa, a bit delicate for anything over 1/5 ounce jigs and 30 m deep, but perfect for Snapper in 20 m with 5 inch softies, which is what I bought it for.
