PM messages not getting through

Have tried to PM in response to a purchase on this site. Appears the first and second attempt at a message never got through and on checking my Sent box there is nothing showing up there. Have used PM many times in past without any problem so can't work out whats happening. All my previous messages are there in my Private Messages. Posts are showing up but messages not going through. Any suggestions at to what is going wrong?

Has always happened to me, I was told I was doing something wrong.
Now I make sure to copy the message before sending it. I then check sent items, if it aint there, paste into a new one.
This occurs with me on multiple browsers, multiple computers and from multiple locations. It also happens to lots of others (do a search).

A good way to test if your PMs are working is comment on one of petermac's posts and wait for the tirade of abuse and threats from about 9:30pm to 12am

Make sure you're clicking on
Make sure you're clicking on "send this user a message" and not on the "contact" tab as that sends a message to the users email account

Thanks for replies and will try again when next interested in a purchase. Suppose it stops me from making impulse buys! If particularly keen can always leave mobile number as a reply on an ad but prefer to go through PM route.

I guess if you don't tell me I can't tell as mine work fine, just depends if the person on the other end wants to respond..
I can check if private messages have been sent/received, just private message me and let me know..
It has been raised before if I can see them, yes I can if I go and look, but it's your business, I have better things to do.
If you want me to check that stuff has been sent/received, email me at and I will investigate, but as far as I'm aware they work. As Beau has said, make sure it is PM not contact tab.

Hi Adam appreciate the time and effort you put in to the site with lots of great info to be gathered from members even if there is an occasional bit of angst!?Seems l must have used CONTACT rather than SEND MESSAGE. Will send you an email with suggestion re this Cheers
