Point Peron Oil Rig?
Submitted by Browndog on Thu, 2013-12-19 16:30
G'day all. Was down Point Peron yesterday and saw a big oil platform looking thing, couldn't see a tug so I assumed it is "anchored" there. Anyone know what that's all about? I thought it could be the Carnegie wave energy project, but looked way too far South and way to close to PP.
Curious.

Not knowing
But would assume something do do with the Gorgan Project.

Bit far South?
Looked a long way from Henderson (& going the wrong way?), and as far as I could see it wasn't under tow. Had a large deck mounted crane. I got some fuzzy photos on the phone, will see if I can put one up. Was pretty much directly West from the lookout point (big Jetty thing up in the air)

Yeah I saw it last week. It looks like the same jack up platform that set the wave energy station. Same area too.

Oil Rig
Yeah, must be the Carnegie project. My first thought is it was too far South, but looking at the photo again maybe it is in that area. Would make a nice FAD, trolling anyone?

Its the beginings of a wave
Its the beginings of a wave energy station. About bloody time! We have an abundance of sun, wind, and waves in this state and dont use any of them very well. Imagine a hundred of these dotted along the coast, pelagic action! Perhaps our RFBL fees can fund them?

hope it's for the wave
hope it's for the wave energy plant - Carnegie wave energy is either going to make me a ton of cash or lose it all. So far shares have more than doubled.
