Came across this in the bottom of the draw:
Grew up as a kid at Point Peron Camps- heaps of good times out there.

Pretty cool Moking, I know
Pretty cool Moking, I know some Powell's down this way, I'll ask them if they know of Joan.
Hope you don't mind if I add a quick epitaph given the plans for Point Peron:
Peron, Point Peron, goodbye to you now,
We're going to carve you up, to the dollar we bow.
Goodbye to the Penguins, the Dolphins and Squid,
Cos someone needs to make another million quid.

All above will be no longer
All above will be no longer if Cedar Woods get there way, so come and gather down at peron bay and protest loudly to keep as promised the testament way.

Yes
Yeah the school camp is still there down past the causeway & boat ramps, my kids school went down there a couple of weeks back for camp.. Also the community camps alongside the shoalwater coast there, RSL, MUA, Sister Kates etc. My camp was the "Point Peron Family & Youth Aquatic Centre" or something like that. It's still there opposite the RSL hall.
Cheers,
BD.

My folks used to rent the holiday shack opposite the sewage plant/school camp. We spent countless school holidays down there. Was a shame when the dickheads invaded the area as most weekends it would be broken into, and eventually, due to the reef blasting for a poo pipe, the houses all got demolished before they fell into the sea thanks to erosion.

Yes Point Peron was a great
Yes Point Peron was a great place for all sorts of fun growing up.
We started with the orginal camp out at the end of Point Peron- I do remember wooden planks on the sand tracks to get out there.
Fresh water well dugged/ sunk and tents errected. That was also until we were all moved on,and started again with the more "permanent" shacks at Point Peron.

Apex
Memories of the Apex camp as a kid around xmas, where i caught my first two good fish off the beach with a hand line on a round piece of cork, king george whiting and a huge flounder, remember jumping up and down on the beach and a bunch of other kids coming over going WOW !and 20 min later there were 20 kids fishing next to me on the beach.
Went from good to crap pretty quick.
We all got jobs to do kitchen duty, rubbish collection, wood chopping, gardening and setting tables in mess hall.
AH MEMORIES !!

Point Peron School Camp
Latest news from the Point Peron School Camp is that it is closing due to government budget cutbacks.
The school campsite will no longer be funded by the government so hold on to your memories.

Went there in year 7. The folks had the house down the road and instead of going back to school, my folks just picked me up and we went fishing. Best session on squid we have had and that was 22 years ago
