Pots stolen

I guess the thieves being caught last week didn't deter everyone. Went to check my pots behind garden this morning and both gone. Scouted around incase they were just pulled but nowhere to be seen. Seriously forked off!

 Sorry to hear that Mate

Its happened to most of us who have ben potting for years

Sooner or later some prick will steal them or run over them

With all the trouble we we go to with the cost and effort

Plus the exitement and expectation of heading out on the water

Only to find the pots arent there

Im very happy those guys were caught the other day

 No help to you though

sux for you had mine all

sux for you

had mine all pulled the other day and that's bad enough. (for anyone who says otherwise, yes I know what I'm talking about) bait was seriously eaten, all moved off marks and (industrial size) cable tie holding excess rope broken.) which is bad cos when I pulled them there was 20m of rope trailing off every one.

all I can say is everyone report sus behaviour, take photos. make more examples of these thieves.

 Jeeze the world is riddled

Sat, 2016-11-05 13:05

Jeeze the world is riddled with scum! I wonder if everything that is said about crays on the ol faithful fuckedbook stopped and everyone with no clue didnt hear about crays and where they are, would all this thieving stop? Its clear the laws and fines aren't deterring the kents, what else can be done? Coz everyone with half a brain and a boat will just outlay the cost of a few pots and a license and have crays for years.

 It's hard to understand how

Sat, 2016-11-05 16:15

It's hard to understand how some people sleep at night but i guess those with a concience wouldn't do it. The worst thing is the season hasn't really kicked off so i will replace them but fear them getting stolen again which would probably be enough to give it in.

Tougher fines would be great but would that stop it? These people aren't thinkers!

Or looking at the ground on

Or looking at the ground on their sounder. Pots are generally a good indicator of good ground. Great place to start looking.

I found some cracking ground

Sat, 2016-11-05 20:04

I found some cracking ground a while back with big arches on the sounder so kept drifting over it right in the middle of 2 cray pots as I forgot to take my berley. Two sides to every story

Said it before, will say it

Said it before, will say it again.

Hezzy engraved my id number in the top jarrah frame, front and back of each of my pots.

That engraving stares at you as the pot comes over the side.

Some bastard may pull my pots and take the crays, but they would be pretty game to keep the pot on board and risk a check by fisheries.

I reckon the boat seized the other day, if eventually forfeited by the court, should be publicly crushed and filmed and distributed for all to see what happens to your boat if you interfer with others pots.

I like that idea

Nothing like a big public display to get every ones attention.
I think I put up on one of these posts that Kailis is selling crays for $90 a kg. That's pretty good incentive for those criminally inclined to risk picking up a few extra crays and get a bit of Christmas pocket money.

Let justice be seen to be done. That is exactly what needs to be done to pot robbers cray pinchers and the takers of under size fish.

I've watched it 4 times and I feel a bit better each time I watch it.

 I'm not a crayfishing

Sun, 2016-11-06 15:37

I'm not a crayfishing "Potter" so I'm not sure if your floats have to have ID on them, but if that is the case, maybe PM me with the Number and roughly how far along the back of Garden Island they are.

I will then have a look for you when I'm behind the Island this week. Can't pull them on the Ski, but can maybe confirm if they are still out there?

That is a good offer.  Law

Sun, 2016-11-06 19:24

That is a good offer.  Law says youre  ot allowed to pull tbe pots without the licence holder on board.  But to have someone eyeball the pots on a regular basis is a great idea.  Two of my deckies are fi fo and both happen to be away this week.  They share two pots between them so neither can be pulled while theyre away, but every time i am out checking mine, i eyeball theirs to make sure theyre still there.

Neighbourbood watch, crayfishing style.
