auslobster is correct, they have a quota and when they fill that quota they stop fishing but can fish all year round.
My spots are so secret even the fish don't know about them !

There is no season for the professionals
As far as I know there is no closed season for the professional rock lobster fishers as they are now on a quota system.

True but only for a period during the spring for a couple of months.
Important to note that these are NOT spawners.
Allows pro's to catch crays at a time of the year which maximises the returns, not a bad thing even if the money doesnt land straight in your pocket.
