...use poppers/stickbaits in the estuary...you'll get bigger whiting (yellowfin) and have more fun doing it...plus, you're not hurting the poor 'ol worms!
I've had heaps of success of late (in the estuary) using poppers targeting whiting. What you also forgot to mention was you won't normally attract blowies using poppers/stickbaits. Using bait you will almost definitely snare a few blowies, which could mean your hooks being bent when retreiving out of their gobs. An added advantage when fishing the flats in the estuary is you're more than likely to pick up a few blue manna's that pass through your fishing zone as well.
I don't think poppers will go to well at the beach. Sorry mate I don't know where, but iam sure if you had a snoop around some flats you would find em.
I usually fish for em in the estuary but yesterday morning there was a group of four people who caught well over 30 whiting on worms at the beach so i thought id give it a try. Plus the beach is walking distance away.
As far as where the worms might be...I would guess anywhere in the estuary....places where you get whiting! I did see a guy a while back, using a worm sucker, near the Blue Manna boat hire jetties in the new marina...
