Quindalup Fishing

Hey guys, heading down to Quindalup in a couple of weeks with the family and staying right on the beach

should be a good opportunity to chase some whiting etc from the beach out front for a bit of fun, but does anyone know any spots along there to chase anything a bit bigger?
What are my chances of a couple of stray salmon or tailor out there?

Thinking I might have to head up to Eagle bay or out towards the rocks to see what I can find while I'm there, but if anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be stoked haha

cheers

Edit - Forgot to mention, will all be landbased too

Windmills or Mitchells

Try on the west coast, the Windmills to the north of Sugarloaf or Mitchells rocks on the south end of Injidup beach are about the best picks, winter tailor , herring and the chance of a salmon.
You might get a herring or two and some whiting at Quindalup but its usually quiet there at this time of the year

Point Piquet should be good

Point Piquet should be good for a tailor or two. Guy next to me caught a couple this time last year on unweighted mulies while I caught nothing on my richter plug. Mitchell's Rock is also a good spot but not in any swell over 2m unless you have about a 14' rod. My best advice is to bath in insect repellent before you go fishing on/after dusk down there, the mozzies are horrific and a mate got RRV down there a few years ago.

If you want a guaranteed catch of Hezza go to the Canal Rocks and perch on the rocks overlooking the canal on the carpark side. I went on a NE but a SE should work just as well, chuck in some berley pellets and then cast a Scumdog into the wind as far up or down the canal as you can and leave enough slack in the line so that the wind catches it and walks it up or down the canal for you and watch the Herring go nuts for it. I found they wouldn’t go near the white water (I was there on a 4m swell) so make sure you keep in the clear stuff.
