Recent Foul Language

Over recent times some of the language coming in is far from what one would expect from our members. Not all readers are adult males and this should be in the mind of whoever is entering anything to the site.

My 7 year old grandson would be blowing bubbles for a month from getting his mouth washed out if he spoke some of the expletives he reads on some of the replies so please keep in mind that there are readers who can and will be offended not by the comments but the way they are written

The spelling nazi police can correct some things but this must come from you, me , all of us, thank you.

Maybe 7 yo is bit too early browsing net? He can get much more interesting “stuff” out there… But not that I agree with unnecessary “foul” language.

Grandson Alex 'photos of his catches have appeared many times on the site and like any extremely keen young fisherman he likes to read about others captures as well. Both his parents are members, Deepwater and Deepwater widow and encourage his access to THIS site but supervise other sites where there is a possibility of coming in contact with disagreeable content.

You would like to think that a 7 year old would be able to read a fishing forum.
Can understand people getting a little fired up at times but a bit more self control should be possible in the time it takes to type something out.

Some women swear as well .......

A little off topic but let me relate to you the events on the Red Cat (free bus around the Perth CBD) this morning.  Around 7.50am I boarded the Red Cat at Wellington St bus station heading towards East Perth.  It was clear to most on the bus that the driver was expecting a replacement driver so we were waiting for the replacement to arrive.  Two or three minutes pass and this female (reasonably well dressed, 40ish) starts up with the verbals to the driver.  There were more 'fs' and the dreaded 'c' words than I have heard in a long time.  This women totally lost the plot abusing the driver and others and man handled or should I say women handled the poor young bloke who was sitting in the aisle seat alongside her as she made her retreat and exit.  A simply amazing performance.  Someone wasn't having a good Monday morning and I bet it didn't stop there.  Most of us can be very thankful that we didn't come face to face with this women today.

Most of us can let go at times

Mon, 2011-12-12 12:27

After all it is a site comprising people of differing ages and opinions. That said it is timely that we are reminded periodically about the need for respect and etticut. Good post and I don't think anyone really should have a problem with it.

If you need to vent maybe do it via PM, so as not everyone has to read the battle of the EGO's...........

I agree.

A bit of self control does go a long way. You should be able to vent and get your point across without #$%^.

Just standing on the train these days you get to hear the "C bomb" on a regular basis. Definitely not on, but unfortunately some people have no concept of etiquete or at the very least good manners or being polite.

Swear all you want in private.

Good call Carnarvonite, I usually edit out the language when it gets a bit full on but have been o/s for the last month so haven't been able to - will be back on top of things now but would be even better if people refrained to save me having to moderate the posts.

Couldnt have said it better myself Carnarvonite. I admit, I am often a culprit of excessive foul language, but it has its time and place.

if you want to be foul mouthed, then use the #@$%&* if you must, but there are ladies and kids on these pages at time, so boys this is not the back section of the Redwood Tavern, thank you

Totally agree carnarvonite, I had just commented on the rise of foul languge on this site.  Even at work now this languge would not be accepted, we now have self imposed "No Pub Talk" at work.
