Replacement Guides

Hi All,

I have a rod with several dodgy guides that need replacing. I would like to replace them all with something better. I've looked online and can find kits that keep the price down for multiple guides, but cannot locate a retailer in Perth that sells them. Does anyone know of one that sells guides in a pack?

Other option is to buy a broken rod from someone and transfer the guides - anyone have a broken rod with decent guides they would unload at a cheap price? My rod is a 9ft lure casting rod, and if replacing guides like for like would need 9 guides including the tip.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers,

Daryn

sounds like an overhead rod if 9 guides and tip for a 9 ft rod. would get better performance with less for a spin

 How much is your budget?

How much is your budget? Guides prices locally are quite high. If you want Fuji you're gonna have to pay. Cheaper in Malaysia or US if you know someone or you going to take a trip and can wait. Alternatively, scour Cashies and see if you can pick up an old rod with good guides. Then what style and sizes do you need/want? No point getting a pack as that wont give you all the right sizes. There's more to it than what you think.

The rod is a Samaki Zing MH

The rod is a Samaki Zing MH - the original guides are quite brittle and a few have a few chips out of the outside of them - a matter of time before one falls out. The rod isn't that expensive, but I like the blank, so thought upgrading to better guides will be a good idea. Budget will be have to be under a hundred bucks, or I'd be better just getting another rod.

Looking in cashies may an idea, but I've never seen a bargain in there, they sell old crap at inflated prices.

www.mudhole.com seems to have a wealth of info on rod building, and they have some well priced kits - but I like to go local where possible.
