Respect to Fishwatch

Saw some illegal fishing activity today with some persons throwing and retreiving crab pots at my local spot inside cockburn sound. Called fishwatch, only 2 minutes after getting off the phone to the operator a local fisheries officer called me and attended the scene busting them in the act.
Well done to fisheries and I urge all of you that see any illegal fishing to call Fishwatch and they will nab them (hopefully).

what ever happened with the voluntary fisheries officers , have they been caned ,good to see fisheries getting there finger out must have been good weather for them to get out of the office and attend but, they have the best swan job in the state

Depends on the situation for me .. there's a good chance of being busted crabbing from a boat in the sound . I'm guessing they were just clueless and maybe a headsup to let them know would've been my first reaction . It's the ones that deliberately rape and pillage that pee me off .

It happened at a jetty, I'm 99% certain the jetty features a table showing dates and regions of blue swimmer closure. Even if it didnt, as they say in the legal fraternity, ignorance of the law is no excuse.

The situation will be assesed by the officers. Everytime I have walked over to someone illegally fishing I have been told to "&%^% off" etc. Happened last in the cut Mandurah when some idiots was catching tailor and keeping little ones by the truckload. Walked over and advised re: size limit. Told to you know what. A fisheries officer mate off mine was called and he contacted one closer.
They arrived to do an inspection but as soon as they got near these plebs they threw the undersize into the cut.
Obviously fisheries was watching for just that and walked over and retrieved a couple of "necked" u/s Tailor with a net.
What happened after that I have no idea but they did get a ticket off some sort.
Best I thought to do was nothing until the officers walked over to inspect our catch and then I informed them about the call and what had happened.
I tried to be nice and warn them but after the verbal attack tough, now you deal with it.
