rod building ???

Hi all, a question for the rods builders out there . I have a cracked reel seat on a spare rod which I wouldnt mind fixing but need to know if the rear butt section of the blank is parallel for the last 12" or so meaning I can cut the old rear grip and seat of and slide a new one up or if the blank is tapered from tip to butt meaning you have to strip the whole rod and slide the parts down from the top in which case its probably not worth it .

I have a feeling its tapered but you never know and may get lucky depending on the blank ??

It really depends on the blank. Some bend through to the but, some don't.

Thanks Till for the quick reply and I thought you might say that !!. Athough seeing as the rod is sort of useless at the moment I suppose I could just cut the old one off and measure it up, I have to anyway to order some parts so its no big loss if it doesnt work out ..

What kind of rod is it? If its a jigger or something, you can usually get the seat off without removing guides, but taking the back handle off instead.
