Rod/reel matches - advice please?

Gday guys.
i have just purchased a Ryobi 5000a metaroyal spinner and need to get a rod to match it.
i'm thinking along the 10-15kg, 6'6" to 7' ranges. would be hesitant to go much heavier than 15kg though.
it will mainly get used for bottom bouncing for dhus and the like in up to 100m water (yes, i have overhead gear too but favour spinning reels) and also for shallower water work where the brakes need applying on larger baldies and things.
i have already got a trusty spheros 14000 on a 15kg fibreglass rod which is great for travelling and knocking around.
any rods under 200 will be considered, fibreglass preferred for durability, fuji/quality guides a must. any ideas?

also, need a reel/rod for the mrs, she got a taste for fishing recently and i am lost trying to think of a entry level setup. i already have baitrunner6500, daiwa BG60, spheros14000 and ryobi 5000. wanna get her something a bit smaller. maybe 6000 size and cheap at about 200bux for rod and reel. i would get a penn 650s but my mate's new 850s looks cheap and crap. 4-8kg rod (starlo stick?) and 6000 reel of some variety???

ps: what do you think of her coronation trout? i'm crazy jealous. she also got a 4kg baldie and approx 70cm spango same session.

Isn't the metaroyal way too

Isn't the metaroyal way too chunky a reel for 30lb? You could use a reel thats half that weight and match the metaroyal to a 25kg stick.

Thats quite some coronation as well!

yeah fair point Till.
as i dont normally get in the situation where i'd need to put the reel to the test, i was gonna put it on a lighter rod and get more feel. if i load it up and the rod goes - well, my fault, beer'll fix it.

and yeah, i was proud as well as jealous. she learned how to cast about half hour earlier, then pulls that in outta 8m water all herself. is it legal to nominate your own mrs for fish of the month?

As Till said, the line class

As Till said, the line class is a fair bit under what the reel can handle (i'm running the same reel for sambo jigging). Though, I'm guessing having a really lightweight combo is not too much of a priority for you, in which case it doesnt matter all that much anyways. Apart from the weight, theres nothing wrong with running lighter line on it.

Glass rods and bottom bouncing is not really my area, so not sure on specific rod choices. Keep in mind there are several glass/carbon composites which are going to be lighter than the full glass ones, but still be fine with a few knocks as they're coated in glass and have a solid tip. Theres a fair few rods that should suit well. You might want to have a look a the ugly sticks for example (I think its the ugly stick bluewater which is a bit under the $200 mark, but there are cheaper models too). Best bet is to go into a tackle shop and try a few rods out. Oceanside has a sale on this week on selected rods and Tackleshack has 20% off all rods.
They should be able to advise on what rods you should look at as well as have a fair few options for the missus' rod. Nothing beats holding the rods in person and giving them a few test bends to see what suits you.

I can think of a few 30lb graphite rods that I'd tend to go for, but I think they might not suit what you're looking for. E.g. if you are bottom bouncing you may want to consider how much sinker weight you are running and go with a stiffer rod. Also, is there any reason you want it closer to 7'. Unless you're casting with it, shorter rods work less against the angler when on a fish.

Great coronation. Shouldnt be a problem at all entering into the pic of the month, even if its your missus'. If you look through the older pic of the months you'll see Nealez missus won one with a cracker of a bluebone.

Very nice coronation. If you want to submit it to the photo of the month comp, just add it to the site as an image and I will put it in the comp. Prob be best if you have a pic of it that isn't as cropped as much as it may look a little funny as a thumbnail image.

If you're happy with a

If you're happy with a little graphite in the mix I'd go an Uglystik Bluewater PE3 Jigspin, tough as nails, as the guys say the reel will look a little chunky for the rod so it'd probably be the PE5 model and 50lb braid for me, always nice to have a back up plan, ie more pressure.

the penn applause is good for the $$ or even the slammer.
i have a 6000 applause as my knock about reel running 10kg braid and it has pulled some fish.
can't complain for the money
very nice coronation
