Rotto
my friend and his family have invited me to rotto in January, and they usually do a bit of fishing while they're there. I'm just wondering what do you catch there? Because fishing is not on their priority list, I will probably be restricted to only about 30 mins to 1 hour of fishing at a time. Because they have 5 boys and things can get hectic.
i am thinking of just bringing my 8ft 2-6kg fibreglass rod which is a noodle, and just a cheap shimano FX2500 with 4lb braid. I don't know if there are tailor there but I wouldn't be able to go fishing at sunset because we will be eating dinner then. I think only jetty fish.
so what do you recommend fishing for there, what do you usually catch there?

Straight off the end of the ferry jetty
just baitcast mulies there under the lights you will have a blast with good size tailor there especially with the light combo your taking maybe take some extra tackle and maybe even line because there are big sambo's living under the jetty that will smoke you post some pics of your catch and watch out for the resident pelican. He stands up on the light on the jetty and craps all over the fisherman - i swear he knows exactly what he's doing cause he looks down over his right shoulder and dumps youll see what I mean have a good time!

Take light gear, heaps of
Take light gear, heaps of herring and similar off the beaches and also take a heavier rod as there's lots of stingrays and the occasional samson fish. Might be worth taking some bait over with you coz it aint cheap over there
