Hi
Any Rotto swim skippers launching from Ocean Reef ? - If yes, what time do you plan to launch. Wanting to get some ideas what time I will need to leave to get to the North holding area in time for my swimmer whos wave leaves at 6:00AM
Thanks - Eric

Obviously depends on your speed. It's about 14nm, so should take about 45-50mins @ 18kn. I'd give myself 1hr. It can also be a bit confusing once you're in the area due to number of vessels, buoy's, trying to figure out what's going with the radio etc.. So worthwhile giving yourself an extra 15 mins. At worst, turn yourmotor off, put your feet up and drift around.
Don't know what OR is like, but the Hillary's ramp is loaded in the morning and there's a heap of woodducks who have NFI. We launch our boat the day before and step onto the boat like kings in the morning.
Lots of people reckon it's stressful, but i've found the day pretty easy. Good luck.
