I have never done the convoy but wish I had of because I went over with only my girlfriend for the first time and we really didn't have a clue with approaches or where you can anchor up etc. Even just heading over the and back can be a bit daunting the first time around so maybe it would be good to do that with other first timers as well.
The weather was shocking. Good weekend they take you all over the island,show you how to approach all the bays usng the leads etc very useful if you plan to go to Rotto regularly. They had a quizz night on the Saturday night a few beers etc. I would recomend it.
Have done it eight times in the last five years. Great fun had by all. The quiz night is great and the food put on is superb. I do it just for the fun now and to help out the novice boaties as I have started to be a part of the convoy.
Strongly recommend it to anyone even just for the fun of it.

Well worth it
