Round 11
Submitted by Jackfrost80 on Thu, 2018-05-31 14:12
I'm actually a tiny bit worried about this one as the Saints have matched us well recently beating us and leading us right to the last 5 minutes last season and leading us for a fair way at home the season before. We should get the job done and done well but complacency is a killer in the AFL. Managed to score my mate's member's tickets so will be taking the Mrs and sitting in the top tier right on the wing.
I've heard that Freo and Collingwood have a new trophy for the game and Sunday's match will be known as the Clanger Cup. With S.Hill out I think that Pies just might take the choccies with the most clangers.
The biggest question of the weekend is which team will Boon be barracking for?
Fire away.

I am here whoever asked.
As i said, under no illusions.
As almost everyone who actually knows what they are talking about has said, any rebuild starts with defence. It is tough to watch, but i watched it all.
Should fyfe go for a week? Probably. I cant see an argument for it being anything other than intentional.
Has freo got a long way to go, absolutely.
Am i on board for the ride, absolutely. Have been since 1995, to get off now would be a waste of 23 years of my life. All those fans bagging the club should just fuck off.
I will be front row next weekend to watch them play and i will cheer loudly!

Always looking out for
Always looking out for positives during the re-build / flogging phase...
From the Dockers website about michael apeness's return:
It was 645 days between Apeness’ seventh and eighth game for Fremantle, with multiple knee injuries the primary factor in keeping the 200cm forward/ruckman sidelined.
There was no bigger test than going up against Brodie Grundy, with the star ruckman helping Collingwood win the ruck battle against Freo’s duo of Apeness and debutant Scott Jones.
Outside of the hitout count, where Apeness contributed 17, the 23-year-old put up comparable numbers against Grundy - well known for being an ‘extra midfielder’ with his ability to follow up in the contest and win the ball.
Of Apeness’ 17 possessions, 11 were contested, while Grundy had 18 possessions with 10 contested.
Apeness won four clearances on the day, two more than Grundy and not far behind the likes of Fyfe (five) and Neale (six).
He also laid five tackles and kicked a goal.

West Coast and Brisbane saved
West Coast and Brisbane saved the VFL from collapse.
Over the past 10 seasons v West Coast, Collingwood have played 10 games in Melbourne and 4 in WA so they could certainly come over here more. We accept we have to travel every second week but it's a joke when we have to travel to bloody Tasmania and the ACT on top of all that travel.

Could have been a three time
Could have been a three time Brownlow winner if he could keep his temper in check. Not the best example to set for the younger players when your captain goes around thumping blokes in the head in frustration because his team's getting smashed.

Brownlow aside, Jye Simpkin from North’s had his 2 weeks for concussing Christensen over turned. Where’s the consistency?

Consistency
Consistency in the AFL is non-existant. Just have a look at the umpiring, not game to game, one end to the other.
I still don't agree with having only one member of the Match Review Commitee. Is good to have different points of view.
I noticed that since they have changed it, he gets on the screen & explain his decisions...........

Simpkin had his hands out to
Simpkin had his hands out to collect the ball and braced to protect himself at the last moment in a split second. Fyfe ran past the ball and jumped at a player with his arm outstretched to strike the head.

But it wasn’t a deliberate act. That’s why it should have been a fine. I don’t expect you wet toast people to agree with that,

I just watched it another 5
I just watched it another 5 times and it can only be described as jumping at a player with a deliberate raising of the arm to the head. Lucky to get a week.
Let's not forget the AFL lef Fyfe off his third strike with the MRP to gift him a Brownlow in 2015.

I am not arguing the week's
I am not arguing the week's suspension, i think that is a fair call, but i dont believe fyfe ran past the ball. Greenwood tapped it on to his team mate only a split second before fyfe's crude contact. I wouldnt say fyfe deliberately ran past the ball to hit a player. I would agree that his contact was intentional and it was high in the actual contest. There is a difference.
And that is probably the difference between one week and two. Had he ran past the ball and got him after the contest he would have and should have got more

Plus it was indiginous
Plus it was indiginous round, as far as i'm aware Greenwood is non indiginous... Hence the penalty Fyfe recieved where as Christianson is indeed an Indiginous chap thats why i think they might have gone lightly on Sympkin and let him off...

The other thing to consider
The other thing to consider here Freo folk, I know its all emotional right now, that old feeling like when you cant have something you want it more BUT........
The reality is this.....
All this Brownlow talk has got you fellas all moist, the actual reality is you have to generally win games to win a Chas ( unless of course you are Matt Pridis who won it on default when he beat whats his name ) so, i'd take comfort in the fact you probably wont win anymore games and therefor he probs woulldnt get anymore votes anyway so really he should've clouted that Greenwood while he had the chance...
I always thought the sexually frustrated librarian look was only for nerdy chics but wowsers, old Fyfey pulled it off when he left the court room today didnt he with his specticales and his slick look hair really emphasising his rather large ears.....

That picks trade with Gold
That picks trade with Gold Coast is looking pretty good right about now. As it stands we're trading pick 18 for pick 22 this year and received the picks that scored us Oscar Allen, Liam Ryan and Jack Petrucelle. I'll pen my letter of apology to Brady Rawlings later this week.

Here’s one for the Fyfe snipers, just read a story where he invested $100k in a mates start up brewery 3 years ago. The brewery was recently bought by a major brewer and Fyfe pocketed over a million dollars on his investment.

question i still want the AFL
question i still want the AFL to answer is , why is nothing said when a non indigenous player is booed ?? but if it happens to an indigenous player it must be racism straight off the bat ?
surely the opposite is the case , its non racist to boo any player you feel is not playing the game as it should be ?
it is still going on every game to varing degrees , even when their lining up for a set shot for a goal , especialy after a free kick is awarded ? and its one of the only ways the crowd can express their displeasure to a player about their behaviour on the field
booing is not racist imo , just the crowd venting to anyone who they feel is deserving of it at any game

I played against Winmar in
I played against Winmar in 2001 when he was playing for Wongan Hills. First game we scragged and double teamed him out of the game. Second time around they gave him an open forward line and he was marking in space and torpedoing bombs from 60 for fun and kicked around 6 snags. Never seen anything like it before or since then.
We were read the riot act by the coach before the game that any racist remarks would result in expulsion from the club.
