Sunday times Albany report 1/04/12
Salmon have arrived in town in a big way. There have been plenty at the Salmon Holes, with many hitting the beach last Sunday. Cable Beach and the Sand Patch are worth a try, while east of town fish have been coming from Cheynes Beach and, closer to Bremer, at Fosters.
Gary Wotherspoon spotted a good school at Shelley Beach last weekend. Boat anglers have done well around Bald Head, with schools coming as far into King George Sound as Flat Rock, near the whaling station, and another seen near Emu Point.
Southern bluefin tuna have also been on offer around Bald Head. Herring have come into the same shore locations, especially in the evenings. King george whiting have been found throughout the Sound, but anglers have had to move around to find them. There are a few nice pink snapper in the Sound as well, likely attracted by the numbers of mulies about. Shark mackerel have been speared near Two People's Bay.
Herring and skippy have been seen in the harbour, with the odd mulloway coming from the marina. There has been a good mix of pink and red snapper, samson fish and breaksea cod out wide. Bream fishing has been good in the King and Kalgan rivers, with enough in the high 30s to make it worth the effort.

Shelleys
I was shooting photos for my sisters wedding at the hangliding platform above Shelley beach on Saturday and we were watching a massive school swim along the beach. A few anglers got fish and then a 7-8 ft shark swam out of the school and chased down the fish that was hooked. It was quite a spectacle from the high vantage point of the lookout.

Heaps of herring, a few
Heaps of herring, a few salmon, and plenty of sharks - sending out livies has been successful, especially for the sharks. Be mindful of swells it has been huge down here at times!!!
Let that reel scream!

Just got back today mate.
Just got back today mate. Plenty at salmon holes but the beach was chockers with people, bloody wankers leaving rubish all over the beach, salmon heads and empty beer bottles everywhere! Didnt get any salmon at two peoples bay, but the water was so full of herring every lure I threw had a dozen chasing it. Had the most success at Shelleys, plenty of small schools coming through every 20 mins or so, and when things were quiet found some loners around the small stretch of reef at the far end, such a beautifull spot as well!
