Sambos again?

Hey Guys,

it was good to see you out there the other day, we caught some horses!

Just after you left (and everyone else!) the fishing went berserk with us landing 8 triple hook ups, thats alot of bloody fish.

Did you see the cover of Hotbite?, that was a mandurah fish, a good fish for down there, she wasnt out deep either!

I am going out Monday with a few of the boys, whatya think of the new vessel, shes sweet!

We gotta catch up and go for a fish one of these days, preferbly before the end of the sam season.

Hey Josh

Hey mate,

Was gonna say, i didn't think that sambo was as big as the one's out at the containers.. Still not a bad fish, poked a bit of fun at ya on hotbite about its size, all in good fun thou :)

That trophy looked sweeeeeeeeeeeeet, very nice looking rig indeed!

Think were planning to go out either Sunday or Monday, depending which day has the better weather.. Prob Sunday at this rate..

After we left you we headed out to the fads and saw one dolly landed, but that was about it, pretty quiet really.. Came back in to the outer sambo patch and did the same with heaps of triple hookups, by that stage we were well and truly knackered and moved in for some 40m bottom bogging, was a pretty awesome day to be out there!

Sounds like a plan mate, let us know when you are headed out and we'll try and hookup..

We are heading out on Monday, sundays looking too blowy.

Hope to see u out there,

yeh yeh, i saw it on hotbite, it wasnt a bad fish and lucky YOU guys put me onto the fish otherwise i would of got none!(jokes)

were you putting tags in them?

Seems like a waste not too? if you dont have any i can probaly fix you up with some, you just need to source a tag spike.

Cheers

Monday is the day

Fri, 2006-01-13 12:27

Just looked at seabreeze again, looks like they've changed sunday again.. sigh :( Monday is the day by the looks of it..

Hahahah.. yeh, they were that thick out there they are hard to miss.. bit of a subtle joke :) catching them on sinkers was fun last weekend.. check out the video's i made up, bit of sambo action.

Where would you pick up a tag spike? do they sell them at tackle stores or? Probably a good idea to start tagging them, like you say, no reason why not too..

Any tackle store that sells

Any tackle store that sells tag poles should have the appropriate head, the correct tagging head looks like a stainless steel straw, its hollow and the tip is cut on an angle to form a point.

I just bought a tag pole and cut it down to around 30cm long for easier handling.

just ask for the head which takes the Nylon Tags (all plastic, look like a mini harpoon and are the same tags that NSW game fisheries use and most researchers)

See ya monday, where are you launching, what time?

Sambo's

Mon, 2006-01-16 22:05

Got into a fair few sambos today, all mainly on sinkers with a hook.. We didn't even really bother with a jig as they are that firey out there. Got some good footage of a couple going down to the bottom and back, will post them up soon.. Tried bottom bouncing and berleying up for kings off the West End of Rottnest with little luck apart from a baby blackass, stingray and a few wrasse.. Nice day to be out on the water thou!
