seized rod ferrule

G'day Guys
Hoping that someone has a good tip as to how to separate a seized ferrule on my deepjig 200. Where the rod inserts into the butt section is seized tight. Always a tight fit but on my last trip out I failed to separate the two and now I cant get them apart. Anyone got any bright ideas that might free the two pieces ?
cheers

JAr openers
Get two of those rubber mats that people use to open jars etc. they grip the rod and if you twist it you should be able to break the seal. I use these on some of my surf rods that get sticky
