shallow water shot - interpretations?

I was out crabbing a few weeks ago in the swan. Between runs i had latched onto a public mooring near elizabeth quay. Boat was stationary with the stern close to the mooring. Saw this on the sounder. Now, if i had been in deeper water i would have been excited by this. To me it appears to be a surface predator swimming down towards some bait fish on the bottom. But it could also be something like a flathead lying on the bottom and merely something sinking down through the beam. What ever is heading down didnt put out a strong echo so it may have been a gobble guts for all i know.
Thoughts?

If the rope was in the beam,
If the rope was in the beam, it would be a constant (none changing) echo, would it not? Boat was basically stationary. Mooring is stationary.

Definately not rope
as you say Randall. Some little fish. Could be a mulloways tail on the very edge of your sounder signal.
