hey mate, I will be up at Denham between the 9th & 20th of April, and its been years in the making.
I have a white 22ft Fraser ( reel Freedom) make sure you say hi, I will keep an eye out for you.
Would be good if all the Fishwrecked members going to Shark Bay at that time, got together & did a groupfishing run or even a crossing to Dirk Hartog

No Idea
Have no idea if crabs are on the move, donated my 10 nets to a mate the other day as missus doesn't eat them and one or two a year is more than enough for me, hadn't used them for over 2 years, half had only been used once.

Any word on whether the sharks are still about in annoying numbers around Turtle Bay ?
Last Shark bay trip we only did the Turtle Bay once due to shark numbers, where previously were only a minor pain in the arse.

Ha Ha, good point Randall
Ha Ha, good point Randall !
But seriously, have fished Turtle many times in the past, sharks ALWAYS around, but last time just weren't able to get hooked fish past them. Not so bad when they just take your fish, but what started to hurt was all the gear we were losing when they hooked up ! Still, we'll most likely give it a bash and see how it goes. Usually do an all nighter as it's a fair run from the ramp, half the fun is anchoring up in the Bay and flicking soft plastics late into the night, never know what's gunna smash 'em.
Just 5 more sleeps .......................

Just had a look at the forecast, not looking great Sat or Sun, still a few days away so may change.
At this stage Tues looks good for a run out past Steep Point.

Yep we had same issue in 2015 in close to cliffs and out a few miles from the cape. Moved around heaps and just kept getting fish nailed by Sharks so we gave up.
The few years in a row we went before only had 1 or 2 fish taken..

Yep, I'm hearin' ya !
We found that there was a reasonable chance of getting the first fish hooked into the boat, second fish less than 50% chance and anything after that virtually no chance.
We just kept moving but it didn't take long before they caught up, shame because my only reliable spot at SB for big coral trout is up that way.

We have stayed at both s bend and northampton caravan oark, but settin up a tent for one night is a pain.
We have found a nice farm stay called northbrook. It is 6 km north of northampton on the eastern side of the road.
They have dongas for about $20 / person i think up to four people or they have a nice comfortable cottage which we are staying in for about $120 for the night.

A crap start to our
A crap start to our holiday.
Got stuck behind the accident on brand and waited over an hour.
Then my car started to overheat and engine light came on. Alarm bells. Stop and arrange tow to geraldton. Then a taxi to northampton to catch up with wife and kids.
Car now at dealership being assessed (still under warranty). No news at the moment is bad news. Suspect it is a serious issue.
Boat is still at tow yard.
We are at northampton waiting to hear and thinking about our options.
All our food is on the back of the car in a freezer (hopefully plugged in).
Looking at hiring a car to get boat and gear to monkey mia tomorrow until we find out what the car situation is.
Edit. Dealershop cant find what the issue was. We're good to go in the morning. 24 hour delay but at least the car has been checked and given the all clear by a dealership.

Hope all is good Randell. Saw your boat and car at Billabong rd house with the bonnet up around 2pm.
FYI and l hope its not the case but my mate had a 2014 tritan that started randomly over heating whilst towing after a year. Mitsubishi couldnt find a problem but after 6 times they replaced his motor. Apparently theres alittle info on the net about it. They certainly know of the issue.

So who is managing to get
So who is managing to get amongst a few fish up here ?
Weather definately against us, been out twice since arriving Sunday for very little return. Headed over to Monkey Mia on Monday, picked up a couple of cod, biggest 6.5 kg then went out past Steep Point on Tuesday. Total keepers for the day - one nice pinkie, 6kg, a red throat and a couple of spangled emperor, never experienced it so quiet out there. Now we have a week of howling wind to look forward to !
Still beats being at work though.
How did things end up with your car Randell ?

Car is back in geraldton.
Car is back in geraldton. Head removed and checked and "apparently" nothing wrong with it. They are putting it back together next week and somehow getting the car to me at monkey mia.
Fishing has been slow for us here. Only one black snapper in the freezer and we beer battered a school mackerel last night. I got sharked on a big pink snapper on our first day out. Left me the head to admire and it would have definitely been a 700 - 800 mm model.
Plently of sharks and nw blowies about.
Big tides here at the moment. We never seem to get any fish when the water is moving fast.
Hopefully that will change later next week.
Today looks nice weather wise.

I fished Tamala over last weekend
Got up Friday night , howling southerly, set up by dark, bunkered down. Expecting Saturday to be a writeoff windwise, with no water to launch. Woke to a light ESE, but no water. Had just enough by 11 to get in, went fishing. Wind stayed down to a light SE until mid afternoon, I'd anchored somwhere shallow I hadn't tried before and was immediately rewarded with fish. Mostly smallish blacks to start, then cuaght a couple of 44-45cm, so that was dinner. Caught more of that size, returned them, some undersize pinks started showing up. Then a better fish of 58-59, and another of 55, then a few more around the 50 which were all returned. Southerly was in and fresh, but, as we were out of the tide run in the shallows, very comfortable. Being broad daylight and in around 2 m of water, we were fishing light--hooked something substantial, got a look at as it powered past the boat--big pinkie, then the 20lb leader broke. Bugger. definitely would have been a PB for The Bay. Oh well, keep fishing and smiling. Had a dugong working around close to the boat for a couple of hours, seemed quite unconcerned at our presence.
Sunday dawned beautiful, light E, boat was anchored, so we spent the day out mooching around mostly trying stuff we hadn't done before, like fishing the deeper water, for no real results. But a beautiful day, and in for beer o clock and a good sunset caught on timelapse. Had a go off the Hobie Monday morning, just beautiful, straightened a jig head hook on a big baldie. Packed up Monday afternoon--it got really hot for a while, flies were friendly, but we were at the Billabong for dinner. Good weekend.

Randall,If it was about the
Randall,
If it was about the crappiest colour red you've ever seen a boat painted, it would have been me.
We went over near the pearl farm around sun up, dropped the pick in 3.5 metres and settled back for a relaxing day, not expecting a hell of a lot. Dropped a burley pot down with GoPro attached for a look see.
Got a couple of firsts, had never seen a diamond trevally before, caught 2 yesterday, really beautiful fish with those long filaments on the fins, second one put up a fair struggle on the flick rod with a 6-7 foot shark on it's tail. Shark didn't seem to want it though, could have easily nailed it, just seemed to want to follow.
The other first was a sea horse...... on soft plastic. Thought it was a bit of weed on the plastic, shook it off and a sea horse landed on the gunnel, couple of inches long. Seemed to be OK, had a look and dropped it back in.
Hooked up a hammerhead around 8 foot, had it to the surface several times before it went under the anchor rope and then bit me off, quite a few sharks around in the shallow water.
Heaps of undersize pinkies, blackies, bluebone and a couple more shark hookups.
Went out not really chasing a feed but came home with a nice little estuary cod and a school mackeral, mackie will be part of fish and chip feed tonight.
GoPro footage won't win any awards, but interesting to see what's going on down there.
Been keeping an eye out for Bon Peche, but haven't spotted you yet. How much longer are you up here ?

My boat is moored up the beach (towards the pearl farm from the ramp). We're here until monday. Boat will be out sunday. We had a nice (but quiet) day on the water today. Got a couple of blacks, biggest went 48cm.
I hooked one of those diamond trevally a few years ago. Pretty fish. I released it and then took a while to actually work out what it was.
