That whale

Thu, 2008-09-18 07:45

Was just reading a report on it in PerthNOW . Says the carcass is expected to have been washed up on the beach by now.

This part in the report made me chuckle:

Quote:

ABC radio said tonight that the whale, believed to be up to 15m in length, had moved to Sorrento beach.

Not sure how a carcass moves itself Laughing

Thu, 2008-09-18 08:07

I need to be "pun"ished.

On a more serious note, does anyone know what side of the marina the whale is on. If it is on the south side you will battle to keep a bait out. North side you would be in with a chance.
Can you imagine the skippy that whale is going to burley up.

Went and had a look this morning. Its washed up on the south side, there is a bit of slick around it. There was no smell surprisingly.

No, the photos of the crane and taking the carcas away was of another whale in August last year, not this one. If you want to copy any of those photos, just place your cursor over the desired photo, right click and save as.

Just went down 10 mins ago to pay my respects and its still on the beach putting out the best oil slick.

Looked like nobody is organised to remove it yet. Heres hoping the wind dies down a bit before they get their act together.

LOL, well looks like there might be some good fishing around hillaries for a little while, though the sooner they get the whale removed the better, might go for a drive later and have a little look at it

I wouldn't be going swimming at any northern beach for a few months!!

We had one wash up here last year, the amount of 16-18ft tigers on the carcas was ridiculous. The DoF boys got some unreal photo's. I have dived within 15km of that spot since as its just asking for trouble. (mind you, they did bury ours so there was constant seepage for months.

Blowie feast

Thu, 2008-09-18 11:47

If they want to dispose of the whale quickly they should tow it inside the marina. The blowies will clean it up in no time.

Anyone know what it died of? Looks more like a zombie whale than a dead one, wouldnt go too close.

Looks like a horrible mess, girl in my class cried today when i showed the photos off of here. Still as 7739ian said its better than a harpoon in the lungs.
