Sneak Peek - Shredder

After much R&D the “commercial super shredder” is undergoing final testing.

The building of the machine required “outstanding” mechanical engineering.  The “sneak peek” build shots are below but there is still more work required before it is WHS functional.

I hear what Members are saying about the “value” in being able to use the machine to process their fish waste (rather than dumping it in the bin).  An update on the proposed shredder “use models” will be provided for Member feedback when the build and testing is complete.

I'm intrigued...

Big commercial boats have had industrial mincers for years (ie deadliest catch).

Why didn't you just buy one of those instead of going through all this R&D?

Shredder

Thu, 2016-03-17 12:53

Belly,

Thanks for the comment.  I guess we had a specific application in being able to shred large fish frames, and any other type of aquatic waste - hence building it to deliver about 300hp at the cutting blade.  It had to be compact and capable of shredding frozen stuff as well.  As we are in a complex with other businesses, it also had to be quiet, and easy to clean.  I did quite a bit of searching for something suitable before we started to build it but couldn't really find exactly the right thing.  It has been a bit of a "mission" to put it together but when you make a custom item you can factor in all of the things that are important for its application.

I must say I have had a lot of people contact me over the last while and ask if we could manufacture one for them - sorry, it is a bit "evil" for the open market.

Cheers.

Mick

Would love to see this in action. I have installed a "muffin muncher" at a processing plant, never got to see it in action though. You wouldn't want HS&E involved with it.
