spearfishing

hi guys, i baught a 2 piece 2m pole spear with that special lacky band that makes ot shot far, i am a begginer so i thought this would be a good start. i was planning of going to south beach groyne for a snorkle with the spear for sweep, herring and other little species. i was just wondering if i am allowed to go there spearfishing? are there any rules?

you will be ok with that as long as you have pronger head on it I started that way around fishermans harbor 45 years ago

Is it a wooden or fibreglass gidgie? I also used to go around the fishing boat harbour.

Yeah mine was a wooden one as well with the jelly rubber. I graduated to a fibreglass one later on.

I have had one for a while
I have had one for a while and they are a great tool, take up hardly any space and very easy to use. You will have some great fun with it.
Sorry I can't help with the original question, not sure of the rules for that area.

You better practice throwing it underwater... It will be different to what you think. I wouldn't think it is as easy as it looks

Good gidgee, has the weight behind it to hit fish with force.
Check the fisheries/DPAW for first hand info on where u can and cant spear.
