I have a 950ssm have had minimal problems with it (ended up havin the drag ratchet goin out on me after an hour in of a fight but this is with minimal care and about 6 months of rough use) The drag is pretty smooth and besides the problem with the drag ratchet I haven't had any problems with it.

Ssm Penns

Mon, 2014-08-25 09:56

I've got several loaner Ssm Penns and they have been faultless , my 950 has 100lb tufline on it and has seen the drag done up with pliers and 3 people holding the rod at once on monster sharks at the containers and hasn't missed a beat! Great reels for the money and as Oceanside said much nicer than the older model to use with the infinite anti reverse.
