Steep report
Submitted by nackers on Thu, 2017-10-19 20:37
Hi all
well after a horror run to steep last year seeing me have 5 days stuck in Geraldton while my cruiser was repaired and missing most of the trip.
having to call a big favour from my brother to extract my gear and another bloke and gear, cost of fixing cruiser and stay in gero around $5000.
I returned again this year with some anticipation .
stayed for 8 nights and while the wind was blowing we caught some great fish .
we fished a little heavier gear this year (usually 20 and 30 lb) due to losses to sharks and reef on previous trips.
I was using a Terez/Saratoga 10000 combo with 50lb braid and still lost some battles.
anyway here's some pics.

Chip
chip is a taipan.
had trouble with first one stalling the motor when idling and after some loud phone calls they sent me a replacement and it was good until the fuel pump went bang.

What is the snotty thing
What is that snotty looking thing you have on a hook when you have your checked shirt on, is it some kind of sea slug. Thanks for the pics you have posted the first is a real heart breaker, transport on a tray bed means it's not good news.

Good to see you turned your luck around that would have sucked...almost there, and fuel pumps ain't cheap! I bet it felt awsome coming back from disappointment like that.
how bigs ya boat and how does it travel over corrugations and is hard to drag through the track without tearing it up ?

Tinny
we fish out of a 4.2 tinny mate .
the track was ok on the way in and a bit rougher on the way out but no problem with tyres at 15 psi

Tinnie
Same, we dragged in a 4.2m in May this year.
Missus said I over-engineered the trailer a bit, but it got me in & out with no probs behind the Colorado.
15psi in the tyres & nyloc nuts on every thread. That corrugated section before the dunes can be as bad as the one alongside the airstrip at Gnaraloo, and longer.
Well done on the trip this year & great pics. Good to hear you had a good one.
Cheers & Stay safe
