Stickbait caught Mulloway

My brother has been killing it on mulloway on bibbed minnows lately with some days getting up to 11 in a session and he has even caught 2 big giant herring from the rivers down here in Albany so i decided it was my turn to tag along and have a go myself.

Typical me being me i like to do things a bit differently and my obsession with stickbaits is a bit crazy. anyway went for a quick hour flick before dark and ive landed myself a healthy little fish on a maria loaded 140mm sinking stickbait worked just under the surface. Was awesome watching it nail the lure and the big paddle tail come out of the water just after the strike. was a very healthy fish in great condition and released to fight another day. so so happy to have achieved that even if it was only a small fish!!

Nice work, that would be epic to score 11 in a session on lures! They must be burning down there.

Wow.

And I thought I was a hero the first time I caught a whiting on a stickbait! That really IS heroic! And you released it so it can make more mullas that like to eat stickbaits as well!

Rub it in why don't ya!

I loaded up on some of the best brand stickbaits available prior to an exmouth trip and they barely got a sniff most of the time.

and then you go and land a mulla anyone would be proud of within 1 hour of trying.

To to say I am green with envy is an understatement

well done

I don't think it is a small fish mate, landing it on stickbait worth hundreds on bait!

Notice the rear treble eye hook the fish, did that do any damage the fish ?

 The rear treble wasn't in

The rear treble wasn't in the eyes just the bit of skin above the eye itself so once the lure was out it was fine

My brother has just went down with the stickbaits this time and landed 5 fish including one over 1m that he watched chase down the lure before exploding on the surface to take it. I think we might of stumbled across something very interesting!! I'll put his photos up later on

Not surprising

Sun, 2014-12-14 09:58

It's not surprising really as I can remember watching them smashing mullet on the surface in the Swan when Bream fishing when I was younger and have had one hit a 40mm floating stick bait that was just sitting on the surface drifting whith the breeze ( not landed ).

Well done guys for being innovative and breaking new ground keep up the good work.

Looking forward to seeing more posts

Cheers Trevor
