Just purchased one

Tue, 2014-08-12 13:27

I just bought one, I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I bought the overhead mount model and imported a daiwa lexa 300 HSL-P (left hand wind bait caster, high speed reel with 22lb of drag).  I'm planning on it being my all round bottom fishing/jigging/plastics boat rod.  I researched, asked around  and believe it to be the best value for money and fit for purpose rod I could get.  Everyone I spoke to praised the rods, I'll let you know how it goes when I get the chance to catch a fish on it.

cheers

G

Used my new kaiten at Coral

Tue, 2014-08-12 16:37

Used my new kaiten at Coral Bay recently. No problem with 3 - 4 kg school trevally on plastics, lots of fun actually, until the anti-reverse on my Qantum PT30 died. Outfit then retired for the trip. However I am quite keen to try it in Perth on some pinkies. A mate has a "secret" loaction just offshore and he reckons they are running.

cheers

hey guys thanks for the info

Gman66 i was looking at the same reel, it sounds great especially with the power handle. have you looked at the 39mm aftermarket jigging knob

i am pretty sure that Jigging world supplies the aftermarket knob with the reel, the website is http://www.jiggingworld.com/daiwa-lexa-high-capacity-baitcasting-reels/

Thanks for the heads up

 Thanks mate,

I was looking into handle options and there's one there on the jigging world site you provided that's a little longer than standard, I'll be looking closer depending on how the standard handle performs.  The model I purchased was the high speed version (7.1:1) and came with a "power handle" (looks like standard handle with a counter weight and extra large grip) not available in Oz so purchased off eBay and landed it for $196.00, it took a while to get here but I haven't been fishing for months so no loss there.

i'll keep you posted once I get something over the side with it.

Cheers

Gomoku

Wed, 2014-08-13 10:26

Hey Barcelona125,

We also highly rate the Gomoku pe 1-3 (blue) as a light demersal jigging rod, this paird up with a Shimano Stradic 4000/5000 would be a great little combo for demersal jigging/soft plastics

We will also be getting in a new model of the Storm Gomoku rods pe 2-4 (black) which feel really nice and have a great action, this would be another option.

If your interested in an after market jigging knob we stock Jigging master power knobs also.

Feel free to pop into the store and have a browse!

I know this a late post, but

Thu, 2016-07-14 21:24

I know this a late post, but would appreciate comments on the 2-4 overhead. Have a 1-3  eggbeater and gave a red to a mate.  Both caught a lot of fish and was surprised how the 1-3 managed a 1.25 fork length sambo, very impressive, she swam away I laid down foer a rest. Any comments on the 2-4 with a two speed 5II metaloid, have to buy from the Charkbait as they don't sell lefties over here.

Cheers,

Howard
