Stretched the arms
Took a run down with son Jeff, Deepwater on here] to the bit of beach that looked a bit fishy this afternoon.
Thinking back one realised it was before I headed up to Carnarvon some 20 odd years back that I had put the shoulder into a beach rod, and they still cast well. First cast and as soon as the bait hit the water, bang, no mucking about as the soapies took a liking to the mulies.
Chucked about 12-14 soapies back, kept one silver bream [the first I have caught in over 30 years] plus the few tailor and the mully that I estimate about 7kg.
First bait hit the water at 4.30 and we were leaving the beach smack dab on 6.30, so not a bad 2 hour fishing exercise that I will probably pay for tomorrow being as stiff as buggery but it was worth it
The mully Jeff is holding up is the one he got from the same spot on Friday, same time frame and nearly same number of soapies but no other species

Well done John. Sounds like
Well done John. Sounds like you had a blast . Problem is as you get older it takes longer to recover but it's worth the pain for a few days. A few good feeds on the way

Well done mate
And that is one hell of a collection of rods hanging up.
Is that for memories or are they still fighting?
I have a similar but way smaller collection of old rods that I remember things about but no longer used.

Collection
The whole lot are not mine, son is selling up and moving back down from Exmouth and is storing his with me.
30 odd smaller rods and 3 surf rods are mine then you add Jeff's 6-7 surf rods and about another 40 boat and smaller rods in makes a good lot.
Mine are complete, some of Jeff's have a guide missing from all the work they have done up north where him and the two grandies would have a line in the water 3-4 days minimum a week.
Tell you what, one was puffing and blowing when one got back to the wagon, the back and legs were letting me know that its been a while since I'd done any beach fishing but they better get used to it because there is more coming.

Tonights effort
Tried again tonight, resulting in 4 tailor, biggers about 1x kg the rest choppers, release 2 soapies and a western wirra, swell was right up and low tide had dirtied the water big time so will give it 4-6 days to settle down before trying again
