suction cup transducer

Hi guys,

just got myself a new little 3.5m seajay nomad. I still have my humminbird sounder from the previous boat. I want to use the sounder on this one but dont want to drill any holes for the transducer bracket etc.

has anyone had any experience with the humminbird suction cup brackets?

do they suck ok onto the aluminium?

any other ideas?

If you get a thick bit of plastic like thick chopping board material and sikaflex that onto your stern it will save you drilling holes in your hull

Cheers Rig,

I was thinking along those lines as well. just thought the suction cup might have looked a bit cleaner.

Ive used suction cap before and is ok if you are using a cartopper, but they aren't really the way to go. Mine would come away regularly. Ive just fitted a piece of cutting board to my boat to mount a new sounder, this is what I would recommend

I had one on the back of my Quintrex Dart for the best part of 4 years. I put it straight onto the ali at the back. It never came of at all, even at 20 knots.

Sikaflex and an old piece of chopping board. Run a bath for your wife..set up some candles etc etc. when she's not looking swipe her favourite cutting board. Pray she doesn't use said board to chop your nuts off!
