SW Quad fishing

So i am still without boat and heading south for a few weekends here and there.

I am looking for spots i can take the quad(Still have many mods to do) and fish. It will be ORV registed.

Not asking for specific spots, just beaches i wont get thrown off!

Any info would be apprecitated or anyone thats keen to come / take me would be good too!

Cheers Vinnie

Dukes of Orleans

More South, but Dukes caravan park about 80km south of Esperance, I've been told its a pretty laid-back and easy going park, everyone rides there quads from the park onto the beach with no problems. I haven't been there and its been on my to do list for some time now, might be worth a look.

Limited options

in the SW. Not many beaches where you are allowed any form of motorised transport eg. 4x4, Quad, Trailbike etc.

Mainly due to the extreme restrictions within the Capes NP.

Best options would be Hamelin/Boranup and Deepdene.

South Coast has a plethora of beaches you can drive on, take your pick.

Why do you need to register a quad or other ORV?

ORV lic in WA

Sun, 2015-02-15 19:36

Well its to do with a act ( or law if you like ) that was brought in around 1978

pertaining to the use of off road vehicles in WA.

This is the act , click on 2012 one if you have a hour to kill and can understand government talk aka , gobbly gook.

http://www.slp.wa.gov.au/legislation/statutes.nsf/main_mrtitle_11361_homepage.html

In the act you are only really allowed to drive a off road vehicle in WA    ( a vehicle not covered or couldnt be lic, as per the road traffic act)

at private property with consent , or a dedicated off road vehilcles areas as gassetted by the act , think , lano, pinjar , southgates dunes etc etc.

If you follow on from this , in the act all vehicles using the areas need to have a off road vehicle lic.( ROAD LIC VEHICLES DONT NEED EXTRA LIC OF COURSE)

This costs $6 a year for the licence, and $6 as a one off fee for the single number plate req ( avail at all veh lic centres).

This then entitles you to nothing, but stops you being in breach of the act when using said areas.

My take on it is , the govt was sorted forced to create a act to applease local shires, and needed to pay for its up keep, so charge a nominal fee,

recoup some cost , and give local rangers a way of identifying miscreants , riding in out of bounds areas etc.

The act is a joke , upheld to the letter of the law in some areas, eg  lano, and almost totally ignored in others.

I buy one for each orv I have had , more for the fact that I may want to go to lano or pinjar one day ( but never do)  cause there beach quads!

and cause its a cute little number plate , and that somehow it might make a member of the public think you are somewhat legal ,

when they see you driving on some deserted beach.

So techinicly every time we/us/ you go quadding on some remote beach we are in breach of the act.

We are seen as the following by those in power!

Nightrider: I am the Nightrider. I'm a fuel injected suicide machine. I am the rocker, I am the roller, I am the out-of-controller!

So buggered if we do , buggered if we dont  , but I  remain posistive that I am making memories with my girls and mates, and as a great man once said

Plato

“good people do not need laws to tell them to act responsibly, while bad people will find a way around the laws”
Plato

I like to believe a great thinker like plato would have wanted to try this four wheeled contraption out for him self!
