Tackle box contents

Was thinking about what always used to be in my tackle box but isn't now

As a former Bunbury jetty rat who had handlines hidden on pile caps for when I wagged school so we could get a fish or two to pass off to the pensioners down the end, the Red Cross landing or at the Blacksmiths shop if they had been unsuccessful.

Bits of sheet lead were the thing that stood out, Used to wrap around the line depending on if skippy turned up while fishing for gardies and you needed the bit of extra weight  and vice versa

Yep my pop always had that - lead sheet that is.

And he would store his hooks in film cannisters. Some were the threaded lid ali type and some just the plastic with clip on lid.

Big chunk of cork with rigs wrapped around it.

Then home made timber floats, carved on the lathe. Some of them with lead inserts that sank haha..

Hey Carnavonite and Tot I also used to have lead sheet and used film cannisters for rigs. I still have an ali cannister that was my desert island pack as a kid. It has some line, hooks, a few sinkers and split shot and a little Swiss army knife.

Always had a few Flopy minnows and Wonder Wobblers back in the day. No idea what happened to them.

Coke bottle casters

Fishing line wound around a small cocacola bottle so you could use it as a hand caster. There were only worth a halfpenny to return them then but worth more as a fishing line holder

Had to try every hook shape that came out, some weird and wonderful shapes and all tried at least once and most rejected

Sunshine, I still use those. Occasionally drop one to the bottom when whiting fishing. Even caught and landed a shark on one once off the jetty at Smoky Bay in SA.
