Tailor/flatty river bash this arvo.
Submitted by Jamos Damokos on Wed, 2011-11-23 11:53
Takin the boat out this arvo from about 3pm till sundown, will be trolling around for some tailor and flicking for some flattys around pointwalter/mosman. If anyones keen to jump onboard for a few hours your more than welcome. Can pick you up from pointwalter jetty/bicton baths anywhere in that vicinity.

Ill keep an eye out for you eh?
Will be in a 7m trophy
What boat will you be in?

Goin to be out there too
Goin to be out there too somewhere, Mosmans or applecross/bicton just depending on the wind. Should be a good arvo with the tide and heat.
Won't get down till after 5 though, otherwise would have loved to get on a boat.
If I see yas out there will give you a wave. good luck

Howd you guys end up?
We were on the way to Applecross but didnt make it- tailor busting up on the surface.
Casted minnows and SX40's in there and instant hook up! Was sooo much fun i love tailor!!
Kept in the live well until we decided what to do with them. Ended up releasing all of them
Probably 35-40cm but some smaller ones.
Boat was real good for its first try
Drove it off and on so pretty happy with that
Got up to 57km at 4500 RPM
Awesome day out!!!

Yeah I had trouble with that
Yeah I had trouble with that ribbon weed in the canning at our first spot, and at applecross was bitten off by choppers (lost my favourite sx40) and marauded by blowies.
No flatties caught by me :(
I was amazed by the numbers of blowies on the flats at the moment. Went wading to look for live prawns after dark and there was literally thousands hidden in the sand making a carpet.

I'd use braid because chopper tailor can't chew through it as fast

Braid as a leader??Might stop
Braid as a leader??
Might stop the bite off but it sure restricts the number of bites you get.
I wasnt expecting the tailor, just flicking along the flats with 6 pd leader and I got chomped.
Found some new ecogears on ebay for 16$ delivered so I ordered a replacement last night to get back into the flatties

not leeder just straight to
not leeder just straight to lure so same LB line
As soon as the lure hit the water fish were on
if i had time i'd put a 10lb leeder on it but fish were going insane and didn't care what lure it was
good deal on the Ecogears

Currently carless, and even though the new one SHOULD be here in a day or so, I can't make any plans until I know for sure.
