Taylor Marine
I read something in the paper today that should have all of us worried in our free thinking democracy. That Taylor marine has been subject to threats and intimidation over their supply of hooks and tackle for the government's shark program. I'm ambivilent to the whole issue but what really worries me is that there's is an element out there that is impeding the right of that business to to do business.
The police should be called in to investigate this whole thing urgently like they did in response to the bikie threats and intimidation recently of a Northbridge business, it's the same thing basically. If I was Taylor marine I would have stood tall but I guess we don't know to what level these feral scumbags are taking their threats. Physical harm?? So that would make them hypocritical to their own cause. Who do these heroes think they are, the ecological mafia. Another ounce of credibility gone you morons.

easy to see how this stuff gets ugly
I had some boats vandalized a few months back during a shark cull demonstration. Filthy problem with them is they didn't actually damage fisheries vessels, just the other business boats around them. Heh cheers a$$holes

For the record, I don't suppprt the shark cull policy. But having said that, I will never support people or activist groups resorting to criminal activity in some misguided belief that the ends justify the means.
There is a right way and wrong way to protest. And threats and intimidation is wrong.

Whether you agree with a policy or not, it always appear that the radical element gets their voices heard. Wouldnt it be nice if there was a way of legally threatening them. However I gaurantee that whoever does will cop the full arm of the law.
They on the other hand can do as they please, and never appear to cop the Cops.

of course pulling out of a govt contract speaks volumes but...
where exactly does the "it is understood" bit come from?

yeah you would hope that the journo is credible (it is a "West Aust newspaper" item so hopefully bit more credible than someone's blog or similar I guess)
I run my own business myself and have had problems with intimidation. First step for me was police report and applying for a misconduct restraining order.
In my case it was just a matter of a "thug" not understanding the gravity of the situation he had put himself into.
