thanks for nothing
Saturday I posted a comment on the ABC radio fishing site, basically supporting what RECFISH West had been saying about Fisheries allowing an easing of regs re; rocklobster sizes for the forthcoming season. I pointed out that nothing was being given to recfishers at all as the previous requirements to open up the size of the escape openings in pots negitated allowing crays to be taken with a size (min) of 76mm all season any cray of that size can quite easily get out of a pot with 55mm escape openings.
I also stated that I felt it was a return to the bad old days of allowing pros to keep the by-catch of prize demersal fish for self consumption as this will in all likely lead to the sly selling of some of this catch at pubs etc, as was happening previously.
Bottom line my comments were removed from the site as quick as a flash. Now if there is a section for comments on a general fishing web page surely all comments that are not abusive or slanderous or of offensive language should be put up for all to voice pros and cons, or has free speech all but gone.
shame ABC shame shame.

Don't jump Down My Throat meglodon.
The accusation you make that pro's will sell fish on the sly without any evidence to support it might be enough to get your posting axed. I can't speak for the ABC but i'm sure they will have their own reasons if you ask.

How has he done that exactly
How has he done that exactly Howard? Seems to be a massive insinuation that Meglodon has offended you in some way when he raised a valid point on censorship from the ABC to suit their own agenda, or have I / we completey missed something here?

We all know for decades Cray
We all know for decades Cray boys have been trading dermals on the side, be it for a slab of beer or cash under the counter. Thats why they where cut out of the process in the first place.
And I agree ABC is too sensitive, you can say a lot worse on Perth Now and other sites and not get the chop.

Commercial Cray
fishermen have for years sold their by-catch, when it was legal, if they had a wetline licence, but there are still a few that sell the odd by-catch. On a recent coastal drive up to Gero the wife and I witnessed it as a "Very" active cash flow industry at a few small coastal towns.
By the way there was quite a few red feelery things thrown in for good measure.

up until a couple of years
up until a couple of years ago EVERY cray boat had the right to catch and sell demersal fish caught by hook and bycatch.
That number on the side (LFB) was a wetlicence and the crayfishing was an endorsement to a wetlicence, just as trawl and every other state issued licence.
Nothing illegal, dodgy or underhanded there.
Why theyve removed it (your post) is another matter, perhaps because of some incorrect insinuations though it would have been better to address those for you to be better informed, rather than just delete.
The 76mm gauge-well even though I dive rather than pot I agree. Id rather even have had 1/2 of the reduction back instead (7 cray bag) as after one year or 2 most of the 76-77mm are taken and we have 6 even smaller crays to take.
As far as Im aware noone had even asked for the 1mm reduction for rec, but there was a push to return to 8 cray bags. Maybe the minister got confused....
