Here's a link  http://www.navalbaseshacks.com/save-naval-base-shacks ..

I suppose you've seen the one on gumtree 70-80'000 grand not sure if that is for land holding as well , might be better off buying a winnebago and parking it up at the Challenge beach carpark on weekends like everyone else .

$80,000 for a shack! As far as I knew, the only shacks in WA are off Dampier, the rest are just rusted tin sheds!

Shacks

Plenty of shacks around if you know where to look for them.

Mouth of the Donelly river has about 80, 50 odd at the Blowholes up from Carnarvon, heaps at Wedge island and Grey, some real classy shacks amongst them too

Unfortunately you are not allowed to buy the shacks at the blows. Council wont allow the names on the title to be changed :-( or else I would have 1 now!!!

 Thats one way of spending

Thats one way of spending the money you're saving from the ciggies!

Seriously,  a work colleague owns a shack at wedge.  Didnt pay anywhere near that amount and I think their future is a bit more secure.  Have you considered further afield?

shacks

Fri, 2014-02-14 05:42

we had 5 shacks there about 6 yrs ago but sold them when the rumours of len buckeridge building a new wharfe their as he wants the land for a container terminal.you sign a 12 months lease with the coburn shire and its about $1200 a year.(or was then)in the lease it says that in the event of the gov, rezonning the land no compensation is payable by the shire and you have to remove the shack .75% of people down there believe it will never happen,we were not prepaired to take that risk.alcoa is a great supporter of the shacks as it is there example that no one has ever got sick from there product over all the years that the shacks have been there.they have no electricity and the toilets and showers are communual.no shack has their own.you are not supposed to live there but a few do.the prices back then range from $30,000 to  over$100,000/i dont know if you would get one right on the water for $80,000.thats pretty much the guts of it but it is a magical place and if you can find out that they wont be moved go for it.i could catch whiting and squid of our verandah.in rough weather we had sea weed on our roof and verandah.we had full length glass doors and to lay in bed and watch the ships come in and out at night was great, hope this helps.
