Photobucket users held to ransom

This from Woodwork forums
To all Photobucket users.
Please be advised that Photobucket is holding its members to ransom and will/has stopped photos from being used on 3rd party sites. Because of this there could once again be a loss of pics on Woodwork Forums and Metalwork Forums.
This could mean the loss of around 14 years of photo's hosted on Photobucket. Like other losses of photos on the forums this out of our control and there is absolutely nothing we can do about the loss of any pics hosted on Photobucket and linked to from this site.
I urge all Photobucket users to have a look at the below and maybe get your photos off that site and on to a memory stick or hard-drive for storage as this could spell the end of Photobucket, not to mention play merry hell with pics on these forums and almost all other forums, blogs etc, etc around the world.
Below is a couple of extract from news.com.au < Click link for more.
Photobucket, a US-based image and video-hosting website founded in 2003, quietly changed its policy late last month to prevent users from hosting their content on third-party websites unless they pay a $US400 ($526) annual fee.
Members who used the previously free service to store their content for use on auction sites, blogs and internet forums have discovered their images replaced with a message asking them to “update your account”.
The move means more than a decade worth of images hosted all over the internet have suddenly turned into broken links unless members sign up for one of Photobucket’s “competitive subscription plans”.

I use Google and used to put links on newhilux.net from there when I was into tricking up that car and posting on that forum regularly. It worked well but I haven't tried it on here. I find the default factory picture function on this forum software quite limited and it seems to always have errors with image sizes and rotation.

Crap
Yes killing us too. Fishwreckapedia as well, fw brag competition and any images added into threads from photobucket. Very frustrating.

copied this from another forum i am a member of.
If you are using Google Chrome, install this extension and all PB images on any forum will reappear:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...flicjjgj?hl=en
(edit)
Alternatively try this;
Open Chrome
Click on the rows of small horizontal lines located in the top right hand corner
Then click on "more tools"
Then on "Extensions"
Then "Get more extensions" if you already have some, e.g. Ad Block.
Type in "Photobucket embed fix" and hit the return key
A link to "Photobucket embed fix" extenstion should appear. Click on it and you are done.
Failing all that, go to "help" and find out how to load 'extensions' and then add extension "photobucket embed fix".

use Smugmug
I've been using Smugmug for as lonng as i'vee been posting on the net. I've always considered Photbucket to be crap--I have a Pro account with them for considerably less than PB are asking for the basic right to just post on the net. That said, I probably do a lot more posting than the average user on here, as I am on photographic and motorbike forums, and photography is a serious hobby for me.
