Time in Oz

 Hi everyone,

Thought i would post on here just to say abit about my time of fishing here in Oz. First though i would like to say i saw some shocking fish handle the other night on Rocko Jetty.  A Guy caught 2 stingrays and picked them up by the mouth and threw them as hard and fast as possible. Then he caught a Port Jackson and spun it around and around and launched it a good 30m. They maybe a nuisance fish but that is no way to treat fish?!

On a positive note though i have had a great time fishing over here. Iv caught rays, banjos, shovelnose, port jackson, tailor, snook, herring, whiting, kg whiting, skippy, bream, flathead, snapper, bluenose, cod and most favourite sharks. Only small being 4ft but great fun and all went back. It has been some excellent fishing with Grace Town probably being a very good highlight as herring were thick and fast.

Going back home in couple of weeks so changing from big hard fighting fish to carp so going to be abit of a diffference.

I have to say a big thank you to all the posts and info that get put onto this website as if it werent for them i would never of caught so many fish!

Port Jackson sharks have never been protected because there are millions of the bastards out there.

Coulda swore I read that some where. My bad. No excuse for dickhead behaviour though. Morons like that tend to channel that agression through to humans as well.

Stingrays...

...was talking to fisheries officer at Busso Jetty after reporting the abuse of a ray and apparently it is an offense to do so...carnavonite is right about the PJ's not being protected but you could have dobbed the moron in for mishandling the rays...

Response from fisheries

Wed, 2013-04-10 18:00

 Thank you for your email.

The Department of Fisheries is currently developing a policy on cruelty towards fish.  Information providing evidence of such cruelty is greatly appreciated.

Because i cant prove this happening then nothing can be done. Im not the biggest of guys so me trying to take a picture or saying something would of meant i would get a hiding! One good thing though was that the email was cc to few different members of fisheries so hopefully something maybe done about it!

Glad you've had a good time Dan. Rocko jetty, although you meet some great people/fishos down there it is in Rockingham. Bogan capital of the world and as such lower socio economic types are just part of the colour of the landscape there. You obviously haven't witnessed the drunken tarts doin nudie bombs at night yet eh? Gotta take the bad with the .... not quite so bad...??>??
