Tinnie Recommendations

Hi, i'm looking at buying a new tinnie to replace the 3.5m inflatable that i currently have.

I've already got a Mercury 20hp short shaft 4 stroke, so am after something that will get along with that. Want to use it for general use on the river and also some inshore fishing/snorkelling, etc. We have two young kids so something with high sides would be good.

From looking around online, it seems that a Quintrex is the tinnie to go for; I was looking at the 370 Dart as it has a max outboard rating of 20hp, has high sides and could be used for a car topper. Has anyone got any experience with these? How stable are they for kids, etc.? I know that the Quintrex Explorer has a shallower hull and is more stable but the sides aren't as high and it doesn't really look suited to choppy water or sea.

Any help appreciated, thanks.

I've got a 370 Dart with 15hp

I've got a 370 Dart with 15hp longshaft. Great tinny, had it up to 5 kms offshore here in Espy, and same up Ningaloo way. Sides are nice deep, feels safe, and 15hp gets along nicely...20hp would be sweet. Had it on my roof heaps of time, fairly heavy but worth it. Would not go the explorer.

My young fella has been raised in it from 3 years old and he's 10 now. Loves it.

One more vote for the Dart. I would have said nearly exactly the same as Woody, except in my case it was a daughter I raised in it

I had one for years, just sold it. Great boat.

My quintrex catalogue states short shaft only, so check with dealer.
