Tips for Dunsborough?
Submitted by till on Mon, 2008-11-17 06:00
Hi,
I'm likely to be in Dunsborough over the weekend, and I'm planning on taking my toy boat.
Any good tips for some bay fishing down there? When I was a kid we used to just anchor up at night and do a bit of crabbing, but what else might be likely this time of year? Oh and good spots to launch from would also be appreciated.
ta,
till

Try the ramp at Vasse
there is a new roundabout where Bussel Highway meets Caves Road ( Monaghans Corner) turn in at the sign saying "Shops" and go down Newtown Rd and turn left at the T- good ramp a 100m along. KG's and squid anywhere out there - just got to find them. Crabs also. There are a couple of lumps if you head directly towards the tip of the Cape about 2k from the ramp - there was a school of pinks under us there a few weeks ago.

Got it!
Got it! http://tinyurl.com/5k8262
I can also see a few darker patches on the zoomed-out google maps, probably about where those lumps are.
Cheers for that, I'll let you know how we make out!

Dunsborough
If you want to launch closer to Dunsborough try the old Quindalup ramp.If you're coming from Busso turn right at the roundabout when you can see the Dunsy golf course, turn right at the T junction and follow your nose.
There should be kg whiting, squid and crabs amongst the moorings down to your left after launching

Go straight down the main
Go straight down the main street of Dunsborough heading toward Cape Naturaliste and there is a turn about 2k on the right [Gibney st,I think]follow it down to the T then turn left, then its either the 1st or 2nd on the right to take you down to the bay,You should see the ramp if you can call it that.No jetty, and watch the rocks out front at low tide.
Its been 5-6 yrs since I've been there but some how I don't think its changed
