Today's 110cm 22kg Dhu.

Out from Woodies today at 5:30am, solo mind you...

Into the 80+m for snapper.. Well after the sun came up it was like a carpark out there, complete with pingers and guys just simply driving over your drift line within coo-ee. Morning went like this.

Shark

Shark

Sambo

Dropped Sambo

Shark.

Not cool so ventured into the 40's.

Came upon a likely lump (I have no spots out there)

Bait - Dropped fish

Bait - Sambo with a shark following it up. Fed up, head for home early.

On the way - cruise over a lump. Couldn't be bothered stopping as I was low on bait. Ah well, still early so a u-turn and had a drop.

Dropped fish. Spewing. Went to look at the sounder and thought to myself - if it still looks good, I'll drop a jig. Over the shoulder - It's like Christmas lights all over the 587. Get the jig rod from the launcer and feed the Haoili down

On the drop BANG. Loaded up and I had a shitfight on my hands.

Thought it was the mother of all Sambos... Peeling line from the 8000 Sized Stradic with 65lb on the spool.. But it had weight....

Gain line, lose line. Repeat..

After a battle I see colour - and there's colour a-plenty!!

Up bobs this monster Dhu.. Well beyond a PB...

He goes 109cm on the mat and a touch under 22kg on the bathroom scales!!!!!

Back at Woodman Point by 11:45am..

Horse.. Will try and get a photo up holding the beast tomorrow.. It's just massive!! Deep, long and fat.. Eyes like dinner plates :-)

Damn, a fish like that is sure to cure a case of solo sulkin, and to get it on jig! Mark that spot, his missus is prolly still lurkin around and will be lookin for comfort food. Top work, wlda gone hard

Well I had a beer with the

Mon, 2015-06-01 20:45

Well I had a beer with the big boy while I processed him today, after keeping him to set in the saltwater slurry overnight. Now I'm not usually a fan of keeping big fish and I paid him the respect he deserved. 3hrs to carefully remove the fillets, wings and drop the head from the frame (cheeks out) - trim up and get into manageable portions... Cryo into overtime!

Was gojng to send the frame into research, but I couldn't bare to let anything go to waste. Earmarked for the bbq tomorrow with some lemon pepper and fresh bread. Head will end up as stock or soup (will need a bloody big pot!)

Vowed to not keep such a big beast again, they're just too old and deserve to keep swimming. I could french cut his ribs the bones are that think.

Tim-o - Spot is marked on 3 devices, written down on paper - in the safe and saved to the cloud!!. And yeah he went hard. The power of the runs! Zero respect for 11 kilos of drag!!! Just had me thinking "what the hell have I got?!"

that's what it's all about.

If you don't feel something once you've killed after the hunt then something is not quite right.

respect to you aswell.

Amazing capture mate - should've been dropping those jigs to begin with ;-)

A beast of a thing

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.
